John Plesniarski

About Me

John A. Plesniarski has had the pleasure of being the Organist and Choirmaster as St. John's since 2010. Plesniarski is a graduate of the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, where he received the Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education along with a major concentration in Organ.

Past teachers include David Messineo, Paul Martin Maki, Mark Trautman and Antonius Bittmann. Plesniarski has performed in numerous recitals in the central New Jersey area and Larchmont, NY and was heard on the nationally syndicated radio program Pipedreams. He has also participated in master classes in organ performance with Christopher Marks, Hans Davidsson, Delbert Disselhorst, and Kraig Scott. Upon graduation from Mason Gross, Plesniarski was awarded the Elizabeth Wyckoff Durham Award for academic excellence and excellence in performance.

A church musician since he was a teenager, Plesniarski has held organist/choirmaster positions at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, South River; St. Michael's RC Church, Bayonne; and Grace Lutheran Church, Bayonne.

An avid music educator, Plesniarski has been an elementary school vocal music teacher in the Woodbridge School District since 2005, using his training and focus on the Kodaly philosophy for music education. Born in Jersey City, raised in Bayonne, Plesniarski now lives in Edison with his lovely wife, Jill.
